On the Ahmed Bradshaw situation,while no one knows yet for sure exactly what happened, it seems he checked in voluntarily to the Virginia jail on Sunday. This is apparently not a new offense, but something stemming from his prior arrest.It is said that he will serve a predetermined, (but unknown to us at this point), amount of time.
The Giants issued a brief statement that said basically it is from a previous incident and they are in touch with Bradshaw's legal team.
The headache for Giants coach Tom Coughlin just got worse as it has been confirmed that running back Ahmed Bradshaw has been sitting in a Virginia jail since Sunday.
Bradshaw was sentenced to two years probation stemming from a petty theft charge while a student at Marshall. He was also arrested, and kicked out of the University of Virginia for an incident involving alcohol. It is unclear at this time exactly what Bradshaw did to violate the terms of his parole.
Bradshaw was a huge part of the New York Giants Super Bowl run. However,the Giants had character concerns when drafting him, his talent clearly wasn't the reason he lasted till the seventh round.Evidently, those concerns were well founded.I will withhold judgment until we find out what really happened, but my first reaction was MORON!!!!After the season you had you could have written your own ticket, now who knows?? I want to give Ahmed the benefit of the doubt, but it doesn't look good. The fact that he is still in jail since Sunday, and he isn't exactly poor, means this could be something serious. Lets hope not.
Even if it is a minor offense, Bradshaw has hurt his team since Roger Goodell will almost certainly suspend him.
It has been a nightmare of an off season after the Giants dream season. Michael Strahan retires, Jeremy Shockey, well, is being Jeremy Shockey, Plaxico Burress hold himself out of mini camp due to contract concerns, Chris Snee, Osi Umenyiora and according to a Giants source, "more then you know" want new deals.
Welcome to the Super Bowl hangover.
Not really much of a need here. The Super Bowl Champion New York Giants were 4th in the NFL in Rushing in 2007. Big bad Brandon Jacobs had over 1000 yards despite missing five games (and a large part of another). His bruising style wore down and intimidated defenders. Football Players are tough but try tackling a 6'4" 266 lb dude with attitude and see how you like it. Derrick Ward was outstanding early on prior to suffering a season ending injury. He showed good speed, elusiveness and was a factor out of the backfield on passing situations. Rueben Droughns provides quality depth, veteran leadership and toughness. Fullback Madison (wall st) Hedgecock may have been the Giants biggest steal of the year after Tennessee was foolish enough to put him on waivers. He is a tenacious blocker who opened holes for the Giants backs repeatedly.
I haven't forgotten about Rookie Ahmad Bradshaw (no relation to Terry so far as we can tell). The 7th round pick out of Marshall was in the dog house much of the season. His big break came in the must win Buffalo game in week sixteen (if you recall Big Blue had to win to clinch a Playoff spot, or else beat New England in week seventeen to get in...and we all know the New York Giants can't possibly beat the New England Patriots!). Bradshaw came through big! He had the longest run of the season from scrimmage, 85 yards. Ahmad was a huge key in the Giants post season run. With his speed, agility and toughness, I look for the second year back to have a break out season in 2008. I think Ahmad will become the Giants primary back by season's end. He has as much skill as that retired back from the Today Show...can't remember his name right now.
Bottom line...unless something very unexpected happens, I can't see Jerry Reese using a pick at such an already deep position.
