The World Champion New York Giants resume training camp up in Albany this afternoon. The Giants take the field from 2:40pm to 4:50pm. It will be the first practice since Thursday night's 13-10 loss to the Detroit Lions. It is interesting, I have already heard concerns from Giants fans based on this first pre-season game: the defense missed a lot of tackles, Eli Manning didn't look sharp, we only scored 10 pts, etc, etc ....Giants fans....RELAX!
They schedule four of these things for a reason. After a long off season (although, not really all that long for the New York Giants...), it takes some time to get back your timing. Also, in terms of the Giants offense, they have had so many receivers in and out due to injury that it is hard to develop any kind of chemistry.
As Giants head coach Tom Coughlin correctly stated, you just want to see improvement from game one to game two. Also, some of the sloppiness the Giants exhibited gives the coaching staff things to drill them on in practice, starting today.I promise, they will look better against the Cleveland Browns on the 18th.
There were plenty of positives though for the Giants; Kenny Phillips was awesome, Terrill Thomas looks like a player, Brandon London and Sinorice Moss showed some skill at the receiver position. Running back Andre Ware has potential. The Giants D line still got plenty of heat on the QB. Chase Blackburn played lights out football as did David Carr and Anthony Wright.
