Welcome back everyone, week two is in the books and hopefully everyone had a good week. If owners of Westbrook or Barber (I own both) are nervous, have no fear, we'll find some replacements as well as some stud pick ups on the Waiver Wire.
For my first pick up of the week it has to be Mario Manningham of the New York Giants. Manningham went wild last week with over 150 yards and a TD in the Giants win. He filled in nicely for the hurt Domenik Hixon. Even if Hixon is back from injury, Manningham looks like the favorite target to Eli Manning as Manning and Manningham have hooked up for over 200 yards and two touchdowns in the past two weeks. Look to pick Manningham up immediately.
For all the Barber and Westbrook owners, if you don't own Felix Jones and he is still a free agent obviously pick him up. If not, Willis McGahee is still only owned in about 50% of fantasy leagues. Check your waiver wire and if he's still there pick him up. If not then look at Julias Jones, Reggie Bush, Michael Bush or Corell Buckhalter as possible week three injury replacements. You can take a chance on Ricky Williams if you would like, but I would give him one more week to produce before picking him up.
If your in need of a quarter back because McNabb is hurt and Kolb is taken I have seen names such as Trent Edwards, Carson Palmer, Jason Campbell, and Chad Pennington as all good plays in week 3 if your in need of a QB.
Some more WR that are worth a look are Brandon Stokley, Steve Smith (NYG), Devery Henderson and Johnny Knox of Chicago.
Drops- QB: Brodie Croyal, Brady Quinn. RB: Laurence Maroney, Heath Evans, Kevin Faulk. WR: Justin Gage (just hasn't done much), Kevin Walter (can't get healthy).
I have also been involved in some trade talks this week. Here are three trade examples that have come my way but haven't been accepted yet.
Trade Scenario 1: 10 Team League-
I get: Ryan Grant, Roddy White and David Garrard. They get Ben Roethlisberger, Santonio Homles and Brandon Jacobs. Why I do this- I make this trade because I have Matt Ryan at QB, Marion Barber, Willis McGahee, and Joseph Addai to go with Ryan Grant at RB and I add Roddy White with Anquan Boldin and Eddie Royal to my WR to give me solid options at every major position while improving at WR.
Trade Scenario 2: 10 Team League (if trade scenario 1 doesn't accept)-
I get Brian Westbrook, Greg Jennings. They get Santonio Holmes and Brandon Jacobs. Why I make this trade- I make this because while I lose Jacobs for an injury prone Westbrook, I still have Barber, McGahee, and Addai to help out with that and I add a better WR with Boldin and Royal.
Trade Scenario 3: 12 Team League (owner is upset with Royal and Forte and is asking for a QB)
I get Matt Forte, Eddie Royal and Shaun Hill. He gets Joe Flacco, Reggie Bush and Anquan Boldin. Why this deal happens- I improve at RB and add Forte to Chris Johnson and Brian Westbrook. I get weaker at WR, but with the addition of Mario Manningham from my free agent pick up and Jerricho Cotchery still on my roster, I can afford this move. I also still have Eli Manning as my QB. He improves at WR and QB and still gets a decent option at RB.
If my 3rd scenario is accepted then I get a top 10 back for a QB who i got in the 9th round and a QB who was a free agent last week. That is why picking up players off the waiver wire is important. Good luck in week 3 and fill free to sk any questions in the comment column. I will answer them ASAP.
