If there were two teams that are due for some playoff success it may be the two teams starting their NFL pre-season Saturday August 9 at 10 pm EST. ESPN has their 2008 Pre-season POWER RANKINGS posted and they have San Diego 3RD and the COWBOYS 4TH.

These two teams have both been to the playoffs the last two years only to have things not go their way. The Chargers ran into a Patriots team that will be know as the team of the decade regardless of what they do the next three seasons. And well the Cowboys ran into slippery fingers in Seattle and a team on a roll, bound for the Super Bowl last year.
With this history behind each team nothing short of a Super Bowl victory at the end of the season will be seen as a success. That is a long time from now but with QB Philip Rivers and RB LaDainian Tomlinson and a stingy Chargers defense the AFC may have to go through San Diego to get to the Super Bowl.
The Cowboys lead by QB Tony Romo and a cast of solid offense playmakers should be able to score points and if the defense can improve upon last years performance the Cowboys will be a tough match up for any team especially any NFC team.
This may be just another meaningless preseason game but for at least the 1st quarter it could be a 2008 Super Bowl Preview.
GO COWBOYS!
